Sometimes we find ourselves in situations wherein we feel incredibly confident of the outcome only to have things not go our way at the very last minute. This can be a cause for frustration, particularly when the results that we’re looking for affects other aspects of our life. Sometimes, it can even become a source of feeling slightly desperate (which is an emotion we want to avoid).

Luckily there are things that you can do to in order to circumvent these types of situations. Here are a few options to ponder:
Create Possibilities. While it’s important to trust in yourself and the decisions that you make, it is also recommended to establish solid backup plans from the start. Once you have one or two alternatives in place, then you can proceed accordingly. This simple action step will have you feeling confident and grounded.
Brainstorm. When faced with a challenging scenario, try to imagine the myriad of different ways that you can approach the situation. This causes you to focus on solutions rather than problems bringing immense freedom and clarity. What may seem to be the best route at the start can prove to be the most difficult, and the action that you may have dismissed at first could be the simplest solution.
Be Open. There’s a saying that goes, “don’t put all your eggs in one basket”, and it’s an idiom that still holds very true to this day. By remaining open to new opportunities, you take away the anxiety that comes if something doesn’t go your way. It also gives you a better perspective, allowing you a more objective point of view.
